My DREAM would be a 3-way trade with the Sox, Mets, and Jays with Halladay ending up with the Mets and a certain 3B ending up in BOS...

Whoa, don't even joke about that! How about this for a 3-way deal between them?

Jays get: Clay Buchholz, Jacoby Ellsbury, and Fernando Martinez
Mets get: Roy Halladay, Jed Lowrie
Red Sox get: Jose Reyes

I too can dream 8-)

haha I'm a red sox fan and that made me laugh. No way the Mets trade Wright. Anyways back on the topic, last week I proposed a three way deal with the Phillies getting Brad Penny and a lower prospect with the Sox then getting Jason Donald and sending him with Buchholz, Bard, and Reddick to Toronto for Halladay and Scuturo. I think something like this might be in the works.....

I don't understand all of the Jason Donald talk. He's 25 and hasn't done a damn thing, it's a joke that he's being mentioned as a major piece of a prospective Roy Halladay deal. Ricciardi should be canned if he pulls the trigger because of Jason Donald. The Phillies system is overrated.

Yes, yes it is (contends the Mets fan to the Phils fan). Agree to disagree.

I would think that rios or is it wells contract would have to be packaged in with roy to a team that will have to give up a lot as well as taking a huge salary back in order for toronto to do this. No way roy gets traded straight up for prospect package. I think one of those two OF (rios, is it with the huge contract?) Has to be included. So who can take additional salary? Certainly not the mets. Dave

It's Wells' contract that's the killer.

No, because it's ridiculous. They currently have 3 guys in the top 25 and each one can easily go higher.

The real plus is the lower minors. There are tons of guys that scouts are high on and are coming in to there own.

Jason Donald for me is on the cusp of the Top 10. He'll be a serviceable MLB player, but no where I have heard he would be the centerpiece of a deal. He would more then likely be included, because I believe Toronto likes him.

Now if you think that all the players that scouts are high on are overrated, that's fine. Just as long as you don't think on the whole they have a shallow system(and Donald being one of the best).

I think it would be tough for any team Dave. Wells is almost 20 million for several more years.

By the way, how have you been? I haven't talked to you in awhile(pm me if you would like) :)

The addition of a bad contract (Wells) would downgrade any prospect package that Halladay would bring. Halladay is a HOF-calibre player that cannot be replaced. Makes it kinda tough to find "equal value" in any kind of trade.

someone at my work was telling me today the Red Sox starting Buchholz Friday against the Jays is a move toward pulling a deal involving him and some other players for Halladay in the upcoming weeks. I don't know if that was reported by local radio stations or just purely rumor but the person who told me listens to WEEI daily and follows the Sox heavily.

There is NO WAY Halladay gets dealt to the Yankees or Red Sox. It's one thing to deal Ryan Church for Jeff Franceour in your own division, but it is seriously unprecedented to trade a player the caliber of Halladay to a division rival, especially in the AL East.
