After all these years, I still haven't found/seen the NHL McGwire, only found these:

174 - correct
174 - 1990 style
174 - diamond
174 - no hologram

656 - correct
656 - 1990 style

I made this back on the Beckett boards way back in the day for reference once jacksonscoupage showed me them.

I'll update your reports. Thanks for posting that image, probably the best out there!

One of the main reasons I started this thread is because I've started to suspect that all four (or five) hologram types may not exist for each player and that there may even be a sequence or pattern to which subjects/numbers received what holograms. Hopefully enough people will chime in and flesh out a better idea on this odd variety.

I wouldn't be surprised if what you are saying is correct. I've only found those two of 656 and I've been looking forever. If it also helps, the '91 and the diamond are very common for #174 but the '90 (only found 1) and no holo (only seen 4) are extremely rare. Same with the 656, the correct is widespread but the '90 is very rare (only found 2)

I just went thru a 5000 ct box of these and found over 400 of the '90 Baseball Holo's.
The vast majority of them were between the #'s of 600 thru 700.
I'm pretty sure that all of these came out of a low number case.

I have a few hundred total variations, many of which are 90/91 NHL holograms. More importantly, I discovered a sixth variation!! There is a 91 MLB reverse negative hologram. I will post a photo this week, but it's the 91 logo as if you looked at it in a mirror. After purchasing almost 2000 Wes Chamberlain cards, I have found 21 '90 MLB holograms, 2 '91 MLB reverse negative, and 1 '90 Comic Ball. I'm desperate for a '92 MLB and 90/91 NHL, and will trade any variation for it including Chipper!
