Way to go Votto! I love it. Nothing against the Cubs or their fans, but I am a Reds fan and I don't like our division rivals either (though I do a soft spot for the Cubs).

I can't stand the division rivals of any of my favorite teams. I am even worse when it comes to football. I think it's awesome that a player feels that way as well. He admitted that it was a cool play and even said it was nice that it helped give the NL home field in the WS.

Not quite Richard. ;) In all seriousness, and I'm not entirely sure why, the Cubs have always been my second favorite team behing the Reds. Go figure.

There was another famous redass that played in Cincinnati...

Edit: did something in an AS game we will never see again...

We're too *censored* sensitive these days.

Well, I am not surprised, the Reds also have the biggest D-BAG Announcer in all sports. Talk about not having a filter and being completely classless.

Which one?

MartyBrennaman1.jpg
The one that is in the Baseball Hall of Fame?
thombrenn.jpeg
The one that does BCS Bowl games for Fox?
jeff_brantley.jpg
Or the former pitcher that shares more inside knowledge about the game than almost anyone I've heard?

#1 bud....

Don't your remember all of the controversy he started a couple of years ago? Just cause you are a hall of famer doesn't make you a class act, that is for sure.

That's old school baby. I like it. Gibson, Drysdale, etc. were the same way.

This right here.

I wish players were still this way. Americans are so soft and sensitive now, that a great player not wanting to congratulate a RIVAL is big news.

Get over it.

I figured it was Marty. Yeah everytime the Cubs are mentioned he pretty much goes off on a rampage. His listeners love it though. You would have to understand the whole Radio culture at 700 WLW to fully understand Marty.

With that being said, Votto is a DB!
Conratulate a guy on a good play, especially one that may end up benefitting him in the World Series!

My point exactly

They blame there problems on a damn goat but they just suck!

I even like the White Sox more than I do the Cubs  :o  :o

I can be superstitious about baseball sometimes... but a goat is a lame excuse to say they suck...

Man do I hate that team....

i agree 100% with votto. even though it was the all star game they are still enemies within the division. players shouldn't fraternize with the the enemy on the field. if they are buddies off the field, so be it. on the field, they are competitors and should be treated as such. the worst are the thugs in the NBA. they hug and kiss on each other all the time even in the middle of the game during a tv time out. its crap, what would ty cobb think of this... time to go sharpen the spikes and raise that lead leg just a little bit

Although this is kinda some WWE drama crap you are posting, it somewhat makes sense. They are enemies, they shouldn't like playing with each other, but they can at least be civil about it... this is baseball... not politcs where people run around screaming false accusations at each other...

But wow do those Cubs suck...

I never liked the Cubs, in fact, I loathe them bad. They are media darlings for the wrong reasons dubbing them the lovable losers when there are other far better underdog teams in baseball that HAVE WON a World Series. See Chicago White Sox and Philadelphia Phillies. Cheer for the both

It seems like they are saying:

"Poor us, we never win a World Series and we have an outdated stadium... pity us..."

I hope they never win another WS. Don't get me wrong, I love Wrigley Field (I like original ball-parks, or the old ones at least) but it seems like they arn't enjoying it and want the rest of us to suffer.

Who within the Cubs organization is asking for your pity or wants you to suffer? Please tell me that.

That's pretty much it. 101 years of not winning? Give me a break. Florida Marlins won it twice and they been in the league for 16 years. Even elsewhere in sports such as New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccanneers won the Super Bowl and they were the worst teams from the expansion days through the 80s and 90s. Cubs continued on their mediocrity blaming anything why they didn't get to the World Series. When they had "the best" team two years ago they got beat and eliminated from the playoffs bad that Cubs fans were turning on them because there weren't any excuses to make for not making to the World Series.

Just listen to the tone of voice they use on WGN. When I listen to a game it seems like they are trying to push across a point, like "We are the best, but yet, we suck, we are a small hometown team that needs more love than it has." It's ridiculous... their fans are horrendus, and they still come out of the locker room with halos on their head... and then say... Micheal Barrett actually shows the horns that those hats are hiding...

I have no reason to hate the Cubs, I just hate them.

What makes Cubs fans horendous? Because we are loyal? Because we support our team even when they suck? Because we have an awesome nerighborhood to party in, thus alot of booze gets consumed?

I will admit that there are quite a few people that attend Cubs games because it is an event. But I don't neccessarily consider them "true fans". This happens everywhere. Any game you go to has die hard fans, and has at least 30-40% of casual fans who are just attending a game from time to time.

Am I pissed at Cubs management? Am I annoyed by some of the casual fans? Do I think Jim Hendry Sucks? Do I get bothered by some of the 100 year crap? The truth is that all of these answers are yes. But they are my team. I am a die hard Cubs fan and a die hard baseball fan. Does that make all Cubs fan horrendous? That is silly.

When the Twins can sell out there stadium for 5 years straight, come talk to me about horrendous fans.

Cub fans are great.

However, bleacher bum wannabe, bandwagon rooting, HR throwing back, tourists, are another thing. You guys just get more of them than anyone else and it adds fuel to the fire.
