How exactly does Beckett Raw Card Review work?

The Atlanta Sportstacular will be the first show I go to where BGS will be doing the RCR. So what I would like to know exactly how this works. I understand they put the card in a semi-rigid holder and put a BGS RCR sticker on the opening showing the grade. My questions are:

1. How much does it cost to have a RCR card slabbed to a regular BGS Slab?
2. Is there a special form for mailing in RCR cards to be slabbed?
2. If a card is RCR graded a 9.5 at the show, when I send it in to be slabbed is the card guaranteed to be slabbed a 9.5?

Just adding to this post, there is no separate form for rcr cards. Just fill out the normal form and under declared value, put the rcr grade. Cost for rcr at the show ranges between $6 and $10 depending on how many cards you submit at the time. To get the $6 price, you need to submit 100+ cards.

It doesn't work, really. Grading is always subjective. Had a raw 9.5 gem once, and also had a raw 9.5 come back 8.5 in a slab (before I started requesting minimum grades). My advice, don't waste your time. Resale and raw graded stuff is lower than slabs anyway.

Huh? The guy said that if you get a 9.5....it stays a 9.5....

There would be absolutely no point at all to doing it if that wasn't the case....The reason I get it is so I know which cards to get encapsulated, so if the grade could change, I might as well just submit the cards with minimum grades required....

Thats exactly it, the very ODD time a card won't cross at the same grade, but most of the time they do.

I think it you took RCR holder and bent it in half, it may not cross...

But, if you check grades at their booth and hand them back right there for slabbing (to be taken back to offices) I think it is guaranteed to cross... BG

This is correct. As long as the card is re-submitted at the same show and not damaged in the holder then the grade won't change. With the off chance it does the submitter is compensated but that is extremely rare.

RCR definitely helped in killing grading. The last big show I went to saw a guy that "was friends" with one of the guys working at the beckett rcr booth. He took literally 150 cards up there and had 150 rcr 9.5's like 3 hours later. Every single one. Later, on the last day of the show, I was talking to the guys at their table and one of them goes "watch this." Took an Orange Ref auto that was actually slabbed 9.5 with one 10 sub and 3 9.5's. Comes back to the table 5 minutes later and it's got the sub bump plastic on it up to Pristine. Unreal. He didn't even wait in line, he just walked around the side of the booth and talked to the guy he knew and gave it to him. Don't be surprised to see an entire showcase or 2 full of rcr 9.5's by the same person. Garuntee if it was me submitting those 150 cards i'd be getting about half of them back 9's and 8.5's. I don't look at grading as anything more than a joke now and have only 2 9.5's left. Those 2 cards are actually worthy of their 9.5. Just makes me angry that scum are getting the same grades on cards not even close to the same condition. Have not looked at the hobby the same since this show. Thanks RCR.

I have a few questions about your post.

*How do you know they were friends?
*Did you follow him up to the booth or were you already at the booth?
*So you hung around these guys for 3 hours to see what the grades were?
*So you were there on the last day with these guys and heard this conversation about getting a bump to Pristine?
*Did you follow the guy up to the booth to see him go to the side for his secret conversation?
*So you were hanging around their table when he came back with his Pristine grade?
*What card was it (you have time to look up the population report) :lol:

Anyone can say anything on the internet and your story just has too many details, while being vague as well. You have a long time line where you are in the right place at the right time everytime... sorry but my BS detector went off.

It was in Chicago right before the season started want to say 3 years ago. I was set up with my local guy here a long with some other people that made the trip. Yes, I actually went and sat at these guys table for a long time. We were working out a trade for my Longoria Gold ref auto rc as well as about another $800 in cards. They had the most prospect stuff at the show. I sat down and went through everything they had. Really didn't want to trade the Longo and was hesitant all weekend, but he gave me about double in resale value of what they were going for at the time. The one guy flat out said he was friends with one of the guys. You could see the beckett booth very visibly from both our tables. The card he got a sub bump on, I want to say it was Beau Mills 07 draft orange auto. I'm pretty sure that's what the card was. These guys used to be on bmb, not sure if theyare on here or not. Why would I make this story up. I have nothing to gain from doing so. Pretty sure they have a shop around the KC area.
And yes I was at the table when he got his results back on the 150. It wasn't even the first sub he'd done for the weekend, as their cases were just full of rcr 9.5s before that.

And if I worked at Beckett and saw your submission I would make sure they would cross also. It wouldn't make sense for them to possibly lose your business, while small, you've still used their holders in various products which in a way is like free advertising for them.
