2010 Bowman Chrome 25% Announcement

In an effort to cover the collectors who purchased 2010 Bowman Chrome Baseball (and ultimately threw out their wrappers) before the wrapper redemption program was unveiled and to show that Topps values and appreciates its partnerships, the company announces that each Master Hobby Distributor and each Topps Direct Account will receive enough 5-card wrapper redemption packs to cover 25% of their original 2010 Bowman Chrome Baseball order.
In addition, the program has been extended to July 31st, 2011.

Below are details of the recently-announced program.

TOPPS ANNOUNCES SPECIAL BOWMAN CHROME WRAPPER-REDEMPTION PROGRAM
Topps announces for every 18 wrappers (HOBBY ONLY) of 2010 Bowman Chrome Baseball sent to the company, collectors will receive an exclusive 5-card pack of exclusive BLACK-BORDERED PARALLELS of 2010 BOWMAN BASEBALL cards . All 110 prospect subjects from 2010 Bowman Baseball will be included.

In addition, randomly inserted into these packs will be:

. 37-card USA Baseball Bowman Chrome Black Bordered Autographs #'d to 25.featuring the 2010 Collegiate National Team and the 2010 18U National Team.

5-card Bowman Chrome Rookies & Prospects Autographs #'d to 100. Featuring Buster Posey, Mike Stanton, Mike Moustakas, Miguel Sano and Dustin Ackley.

And because of a production error, the previously announced Autographed 2010 Bowman Chrome USA BUYBACK program will now be included as part of this wrapper redemption. Cards will be sequentially numbered with foil stamping to 100 and will include Bryce Harper, James Taillon, Yasmani Grandal, Drew Pomeranz, Michael Choice, Christian Colon, Manny Machado and Bryce Brentz.

The deadline for the promotion is 7/31/11

Wrappers should be sent to:
PO BOX 2230
Duryea, PA 18642
ATTN: Bowman Chrome Promotion

And I'm sure someone will come in here saying "Great job, Topps! What an awesome gesture!"

Maybe if they didn't screw up nearly every one of their products in the first place, they wouldn't have to cover their ass by offering freebies after the fact.

Oh, and they already screwed up their Topps Chrome wrapper program by effing up the collation. I'm sure they'll manage to eff up BC as well

Does this mean that Blowout will get a ton of these packs as they did with the Fleer Hot Prospects Draft edition die cuts years ago?

so by the sound of this... redemption packs will be about 1:80 odds for an autograph.

"sorry for the missing usa buybacks"

they might as well make a whole new wrapper redemption 'set' with all parallels.

they could call it 'Bowman Oops 2010'

So.......

Buyers lose out because they threw out their wrappers the day it came out, but distributors, who made money or of BC, get the wrappers the buyer lost to profit off of???

Sound pretty stupid.... Why would they do that???? Do they actually think before making decisions????

Yeah, there's a disconnect in the logic there. I guess the thinking is that the master distros will send the shops an appropriate number of packs, then the shops will give them to customers who bought boxes. Which will happen in about 1% of such cases to be generous. However, there's not much else they could do except give them directly to collectors who ask for them, which wouldn't be the worst thing. Maybe a 1-per-household kind of thing.

This just crazy. They announced the wrapper redemption three days after release. THREE days!

Are you meaning to tell me that Distributors and Hobby shops sold 25% of their initial purchase within this time frame and all those people threw out their wrappers??

Or better yet... I can go to Blowout or my local hobby shop and say I bought boxes day 1 and threw out my wrappers and they're going to give me a wrapper redemption pack. I highly doubt it.

This is an "I'm sorry letter" from Topps to the Distributors and Hobby shops. Which I can't blame them for.

But I have a feeling these redemption packs are going to be a slap in the face to the collectors. With the increased production to gauge for 25% of initial orders... The collectors are going to get a black parallel set of the bowman prospects that started the reason for over ordering.

Wheres that girl that sang about ironic stuff.

Exactly, the Distributors aren't the ones that actually opened the packs, I wouldn't think. I thought they sold the cases to shops. Why would they get ANY of the redemption packs in the first place?

And expecting most Hobby shop owners to distribute them to the customers that actually bought the packs is probably a stretch too.

putting packs/cards in the hands of dealers to give away is a bad idea as the dealers will only sell them.

they should keep the wrapper redemption program as-is, those who busted early and pitched wrappers, tough ****! Those who busted and kept wrappers and paid to send them in to Topps should be the only ones getting the goods.

I feel my wrapper redemptions that I have sent in have been devalued.

Wow, nothing like a disaster cured with....what for it....another disaster.

Hopefully this makes those who threw their wrappers away MORE upset because now the ones getting the wrapper redemptions are the distributors, not the ones who actually lose out on the thrown out wrappers.

This is just horrendous.

Has anybody figured out if these Black Parallels will be of the 2010 Bowman set or the 2010 Bowman Chrome set?
