Offense is only half the game
There should be no pitchers in the HOF.
Ok, if you are serious about that...then you might want to stick talking hockey.

The whole "well this person is better than this person" for the HOF is annoying anyway.
I say no to Dunn. Other than hit a lot of home runs, what has he done? Two all-star games?
I was defending Ozzie, not saying Dunn can't make the Hall.
Here is the all time hits list, look at the big name HOF guys with FEWER hits than Ozzie.

I don't think all star games made is a worthy factor to decide HOF. If so, then the fans play a big role into who makes the HOF. We mock, judge, and laugh at the all star game rosters each year, so I just can't buy into that.

I'm saying pick a measure for HOFers and stick with it. When it comes to Ozzie Smith people talk about his defense and not much else. When he came to defense, he was the best, when it came to offense, he was one of the worst. That's just fact.
I'm debating those that are saying "all he did was hit the long ball 600 times and he sucked at everything else" using that as an argument as to why he shouldn't be in.
That was more than a few years ago. The Andruw Jones HOF debate has been prevalent on these boards since his role playing days with the White Sox, Rangers, and Yankees. Also Andruw Jones put himself in the position he is today but becoming extremely lazy. Dunn is not lazy.

Why bother having these debates?!
Why not just let everyone in the Hall of Fame!
That way no ones feelings are hurt and we can put to rest all these "this guy is better than this guy"
Sure, Dunn's only averaged a .242 career average so far and struck out 1958 times in 5739 at bats while being an average defender...let him in!!
/obvious sarcasm
Dunn hit 46 HR once, his only time hitting over 40 HR.
If he hits 40 for 2.5 more years he will just get to 500.
Do you see 6+ more seasons of 40+ HR to get to 600?
I sure don't. This is season 12 already.
You guys are forgetting that he walks a lot and if it wasn't for his horrid year last year, his career OPS would be around .900. So he's 10x the hitter Dave Kingman was, as Kingman was lucky to have an OBP of .300. Adam Dunn's OBP is anywhere from .350 to .400. If he can get that back up a bit and has 600 HR, he'll make the HOF. Juan Pierre will make the HOF if he gets 3,000 hits. Jamie Moyer will get in the HOF if he has 300 wins.
Just the way it is.
But he WAS horrid last season, you can't just take away a poor year for the sake of your argument. And walks? Yeah, let's put Dunn in the HOF because he walks a lot. Jesus christ, you make is seem like getting the slowest guy in the league on first base is a GOOD thing, lol!
Adam Dunn is a poor man Reggie Jackson, minus the MVP, minus the dozen+ AS appearances, and minus the postseason success and WS rings. Dunn has only led the league in K's[3] and BB's[1], while Jackson has led the league in HRs, SLG%, OPS, etc.
Dunn is a one trick pony, and is on pace to break Jackson's strikeout record. Not to mention will end up being one of the worst defensive players of all time...he is most likely better suited at 1B, but it's too late now. He might make it to 500 HRs but he won't get to 600....which team is going to want a 37+ year old Dunn on their team if at 32 he is hitting at the mendoza line and striking out in 42% of his ABs?
Even with the worst offensive year from a hitter last year....the past 8 years, Dunn has averaged over 36 HR a year the past 8 years. He is clearly going to hit 40 HR this year....what makes people so sure that he can't average 30 HR the next 6 years and possibly get to 600?
500-396 career HR =104 to 500hr
At 40 HR per season, that's 2.6 years.
Sorry another 5 seasons, at 40 per year, which I dont think will happen. He will start to decline.
I don't see 5 more years of 40or more from Dunn. I predict more years like last year ahead.
