Hey all,

I made a thread about some recent shop pickups which led another user to ask if my Ripken was the 97 SPx Grand Finale parallel limited to 50 (but not #'d). Does anyone have specific info regarding how you can tell the difference between the gold and grand finale? Here is a scan of the front of the Ripken, and then one of the back of the Ripken as compared to the back of a base Scott Rolen. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
John

The hologram on Grand Finales is also gold toned, while on the standard gold, it has almost a green hue, looks like a standard silver.

edited to add:

The backs of the Gold and Grand Finale are the same.

Jeez talk about subtle differences; I feel like it's probably like the Topps Tiffany parallels where it's tough to see from a scan but in person the difference is striking. My guess is I probably have the Gold just based on the print run but I might list it on ebay letting the bidders know I have no idea whether it's gold or grand finale (obviously true, haha). As I mentioned to Papa before, it looks like the hologram is golder than the base example I have, but it could just be a combination of Ripken having orange in it from being an Oriole and wishful thinking. Thanks for the help.

I would think without hesitation that the Ripken is a standard gold. I've never seen a Grand Finale that scanned with a silver toned hologram.

It is indeed the Gold version.

JEA2880 PM is enroute. I need a few of those Ripkens if you are moving them.
