He's not a name that the average fan knows about, but Willard Brown was one of the great homerun hitters in the ***** Leagues and Puerto Rican Leagues and was voted to the Hall of Fame in 2006.

Additionally, Willard Brown was one of a very small number of black players to play in the Majors in 1947. The St Louis Browns signed him and Hank Thompson to very brief stints, but neither lasted long. Thompson was signed to the Giants in 1949 after a couple more seasons in the ***** Leagues, but Brown never made it back to the Majors. It is a huge shame, because most fans never got a chance to see a truly great player.

Here is a rare Type I photo from his brief stint with the Browns.

This is a beater, but have never seen it before. about 7" x 9", smaller than i expected (was thinking 8x10). Dated to 1981 based on several players being shown together and their time with Seattle. Pretty early Dave Krieg appearance piece. I like this era, oddball Seattle stuff of just about any type/sport (M's, Sonics, Hawks, Sounders, Huskies), so this was something I really wanted, despite it being beat to crap! Bonus Sam McCullum autograph on it as well.

Cool button hole December arrival. Said it before, but to me, just as rare as a button for obvious reasons. always part of higher nunbered runs like this one /75 but there are really only 6 or 7 buttons per jersey, and only 6 or 7 possible to get

I had never seen these before, which surprises me because Carew is someone I like to collect as a side project. I hope these are real and not just a fantasy piece, but advertised as proofs to the 7-11/splurpee coins that were so popular in the 80s. Several different brand backs. I also say Pepsi, but the seller didn't have that one.

Got this set to go with it, because these were issued well after my prime Slurpee days. 2000, sponsored by Pacific.

A few low serial numbered cards from the Master sets, /15 & /20. I sometimes wonder if these were faked. I'd have to dig all of them I have out and compare the foil stamping, but i seem to recall someone along the way proposing that there may be fakes out there. These weren't much, so if they are fakes, that was not a huge money maker for whoever did it.

2005 UD Ultimate Signature Collection Immortal Inscriptions Don Mattingly /75 -- This remains a landmark set after 20 years. A few collectors were chasing a master set on Beckett and here on FCB when it was released and so this was always on my radar. Immortal Inscriptions is a standout from this product and Mattingly is the lone Yankee in the subset. I don't recall inscriptions being done nicer than this in future years. If so, please share!

This cost a bit more than the standard Mattingly autographed card, but surprinsingly not much more than sending a card into to be signed by Mattingly at a local signing with an inscription fee. That is my "collector math" to justify such a purchase.

Got this as well. It was a rare FB Marketplace find that was actually worth inquiring into and then I ended up striking a deal. 75 Baseball Talk cards. About 1/2 of the set I believe. I would say it was not cherry picked either, given some of the names included. Someone bought these, played then and now are cleaning out the old closet! They are probably around VG/EX, not perfect, but not beat either up either. 27 cents a card is a deal as far as I am concerned with the lot costing me $20.

Got a huge upgrade to my 1900 Wills Sports of All Nations set yesterday with the PSA 5. My previous copy of the Baseball card is really beat up though it's a rarer back than PSA so I'll likely keep both for my set.

I've started picking up Stadium Club Cardinals Autos recently and plan on working on all of them. I love the photos and the fact that they're on card autos.

Checked off another card from the 2024 Topps Update Helsley Rainbow with the Father's Day Blue /50 - Just 4 to go not counting 1/1s
