Shipping something at a UPS store cost more than if I schedule a UPS pickup? Or post office?

Does shipping something at a UPS store cost more than if I schedule a UPS pickup? And how do I now how much it will cost doing a pickup? I have a very big package that needs to go out. Or is the post office run about the same? Thanks everyone....

Shipping does cost more at the UPS store. You could also go to UPS.com and schedule a pickup. It will tell you on the site how much it will cost. It is even cheaper to process the package at home and take it to a ups store for pickup. No charge at the UPS store for dropping it off.

Everything said above is correct. I ship every other day, if not daily, using UPS.com and dropping the packages off at the UPS Store at no additional charge. I'm almost positive they charge a pickup fee for residential pickup and possibly for commercial pickup, depending on your area. You can go to UPS.com and type in an address and zip code and they will give you an estimate of the cost if you want to ship from home and schedule a pickup. The UPS store will do the same if you call or walk in and tell them the address and the weight of the package.

So if I take it to the UPS store for the actual weight, then go online and process it and pay for it, that would be the best thing? Correct? Only because I am not sure of the weight. I only have an ouce scale. And I am not holding it in my hands while I am on the scale...lol....lmk, thanks!

I guess you could go to the UPS store and have them weigh it for you and just say you're shopping around for the best price. If you decide to guess and you underestimate the weight, UPS will send you a billing adjustment and charge your card or send an invoice for the difference.

Well I sent it and a 14 lb package (that the UPS store weighed) cost me $35 and change with delivery confirmation from doing it UPS online. I thought that was kind of high. Geez. I charged $30 for shipping so it cost me $5 on the deal but the items I sent didn't cost me anything because I got them from someone who didn't want them anymore so I still made after fees $100....;)
