Picked up this autograph recently. It ended up costing $270. PSA/DNA sales have been ranging $400-450. I would have bought this card even if it wasn't authenticated and I was kinda surprised to see it go for as low as it did since it was an early auto.

My question is that does having a sticker on the card negatively affect the value of something like this? Is that why it went as low as it did? Or is it simply that the higher sales for PSA/DNA slabbed cards due to registry collectors driving prices?

Thank you!

I was checking out PSA Registries. One of the Aaron Autographed registries has JSA stickers on the back and also PSA authentication. These are graded 2 to 4s. The JSA sticker doesn't detract from the grade. I guess they just overlook it and don't consider it is an alteration like trimming, markings, or tape.

It seems that autographed cards are somewhere in the middle of collecting groups. Some love them, others think it ruins the card. I'm guessing the sticker is a similar case. Neatly placed on the back doesn't bother me, although I guess I'd rather not have one at all if it could be avoided.

I am also a big fan of signed cards and do not feel that they ever hurt the value of any card. When all is said and done, nearly all cards signed by a player will be harder to find than the same card unsigned (ultra rare items and/or extremely low serial numbered cards aside) and I just don't see how having a signature on the card would push it below the value of the same card unsigned, high grade copies - grading being a possible exception).
