Lets assemble the greatest team ever by voting on who the best overall is at each position. Next up, first base. I'll do the next after we get 50+ votes, then the next and so on.

VOTE FOR YOUR TOP-TWO

1B - LOU GEHRIG

As much as I would love to say Jimmie Foxx, I'd have to go with Lou Gehrig. Can't go wrong with either.

1. Gehrig
2. Foxx
3. Greenberg

Who would vote for Eddie Murray given the list included? He doesn't even hold a candle to the other guys.

Have to go with:
1. Gehrig
2. Foxx

I don't see how Pujols has so far gotten double the votes that Foxx has, I think he has some playing to do before he can be considered better than him.

DAMN IT I hate not being able to edit polls like we used to. Obviously this is supposed to be for first base, not catcher.
Damn, if I saw that you put 'catcher' instead of '1B' I would have voted Foxx....he played over 100 games behind the dish!

:p

1) Gehrig
2) Cap Anson
3) Foxx

Honorable Mention: Greenberg (shortened career like Campy), Buck Leonard (***** Leagues ), Mark Grace (ummm... he played tic tac toe with opposing 1B in the infield dirt, and selflessly helped team with numerous slumpbusters).

lou gehrig...no contest

This one wasn't as close as the last one..I thought Pudge, Piazza, Bench, & Berra all had a chance...

I think Gehrig in so many ways is quite a few steps above everyone on this list...even with some amazing names...

Clearly Gehrig for #1 but since Murray was the greatest I ever saw play, he was my #2.

Agree on all counts.
