I don't seem to be able to click and save ebay scans now, another solid USELESS change they have made.
I don't like the change either, the reason for it is to save server space. You can install a browser add-on for chrome that allows you to Save as Type, and select jpg when downloading. This converts the file automatically. Let me know if you need more specific information.

Carousel. Have one with a more complete address, but they are getting harder and harder to find certain addresses.

I had the devious idea of getting some Carousel stamps made up with fictitious addresses and then stamp some blank backs but decided that would be too mean to the other obsessed collectors out there.

That would be mean, but also probably not that hard to defraud with. I have thought about how easy it might be to fake one and how hard it probably is to verify that the actual address was real too! Not likely there is an archive of former Carousel locations with addresses, outside of card collectors compiling the known stamp variations.Back when all it was meant to do was provide the store with free advertising.

Garvey /10

Garvey /25. So, initially I missed this due to the colorful nature of these cards. In case you were like me, but never had more than 1 side by side (or this was explained elsewhere), the way you tell the difference between the colored versions is the word MVP is different color. I failed to notice this when they were new and first selling and was confused at how you knew which version you were getting, as several had the same serial number as well!

Garvey /15 today. His B-Day is tomorrow, but no mail so this will be the B-Day addition. I am still chasing new Garvey cards, but I am not feeling the same passion for them as I once did. Oddball/unique stuff, always. The same old low serial numbered relic or auto, using the same photos used numerous times over, is not ringing the same bell it used to. It's time for something unique to break the same old mold...

Retro designs or retro themed designs will always be exciting, at least to me. I guess I am pining for the good old days still.

Snider /15. Willie, Mickey & The Duke. I liked the Dodgers, so naturally I gravitated towards Snider. In the end, in a world of value, I missed the boat. I have a few Mantle items, more Mays but a pretty expansive Snider collection.

Snider is the scrub of the 3 in the modern hobby, the Harold Baines of the group! Still, I love the fact that his stuff is mostly still affordable, a decade+ after his death and Willie and Mickey will cost you a fortune. Overshadowed in NYC and even on his own ball club in the 50s, Snider was one of the greats and an often overlooked one. Thankfully he was a gracious signer and there are plenty of autographs to go around still.

Snider/Ethier /60. I paid a premium for this, at least a premium for me buying a relic card. I realize Heritage has a strong following, so sometimes the cards sell much stronger than a comparable item. A relic /60 shouldn't sell for much these days, but this one did! Sometimes I have to look past the "value" and just let it rip if I want to own a certain card. Love that retro floating head design.

I have been trying to win one of these for a while. The seller claims to have inherited his fathers memorabilia from back in the 80s/90s when apparently his father hosted signings. He has offered a pretty huge supply of LA area teams/players and autographs. A couple dozen of these Drysdale posters have sold and I finally held the high bid on when and coincidentally, it was one of the cheaper prices I recall one selling for. Love that kind of luchk and now I don't mind that it took months to finally win one.

A new prospect who may or may not ever play for the Dodgers, but it counts for the collection.

Roseboro and the card they featured in The Baseball Card, Flipping, Trading and Bubblegum Book. That book and the cards they featured will always hold a special place in my collection. The sticker would have bene better placed on the back though.

A couple minor league Dodgers to round out the late Monday mailday posting.

Round 2 for todays mail

Garvey /25
Garvey Museum 25.png

Happy about this one. Drew's Dodgers autos seem to have been tougher for me in the past. Lots of high end sets. This one ended at $1! Of course, $5-6 shipping + tax brings the price back into less of a steal, but still better than $10 plus all of that.

A T206 variant
Garvey Polar Bear.png

Don't really need any more Sheehan. When he debuted and tossed that great first game, I was worried. Since then, a ton of his autos have been released. This was cheap and kind of interesting, so I bought it. It's /4.

Finally snagged one. Took him tossing his career away to do so. Bummer.

Approaching the end of 2024 and a decision to keep this thread alive or not after 5 years of Dodger related pick-ups! A fun and maybe a little disturbing trip down memory lane to see a lot of what I have added to the collection and a reminder of the $ I have spent to do so. It's all for fun in the end though. I spend what I can afford to while still making sure I take care of everything else needed and don't allow it to be a financial burden on my family.

Today and yesterday brought a couple cheap HA cards, numbered to /7. I can't bring myself to pay much for stuff like this. "Off" brand maker, cuts that are essentially 3X5s or scraps of paper, produced intentionally in low serial numbering and considered "certified" just because they came in packs/boxes, but I won't pay more than what a plain old uncertified 3x5 would cost me, especially if there are no player images. Got these from the same seller, a pair of Jim Gilliam autos. I was actually surprised at how low they went for. The first one is a better quality signature for sure. Gilliam was a solid player for the Dodgers his entire career and then stayed with the organization in a coaching capacity until his untimely death in 1978. I am always interesting in adding more unique Gilliam items when i see deals to be had.

These base SC Garvey autos have been selling stupidly high for what they are, for some reason. Finally got one at a more reasonable price. I often wonder if people are seeing low print run Garvey cards being sold for top $ and thinking that there is an actual market for him now. If you really knew the garvey market in 2024, you'd see that I am either winning a few or in most cases making the high bidder pay well above "market" for the new cards that are coming out. Behind me in almost all cases, the bids are half again what i bid. then in cases where there is more than 1 copy, I can usually come back around and get mine for considerably less. That is the penalty one pays to always be first to own a new issue, low print run card! It's actually a little concerning though, that when I come to the time when I want to sell my Garvey stuff, I am probably going to take a royal beating! Maybe I will create a Garvey museum instead.

Another T206 back variant, Old Mill
Garvey old mill mrm.png

Finally, a full 20 card set of 1978 Cramer (as in, Pacific Trading Cards founder Michael Cramer) Albuquerque Dukes. The Dodgers were stacked then, with future MLB players Rick Sutcliffe, Pedro Guerrero, Joe Simpson, Rudy Law, Joe Beckwith, Ron Washington and Bob Welch to name a few.
