Every year this community has its annual award program. The big category is always Baseball Product of the year. Normally there is a tight neck and neck race and one product pulls away at the end. This year the voting is heavily skewed in the direction of Ultimate Collection.
This could be due to the “Out of sight, Out of mind” principle, and this product could be attracting attention because it was released the day the polls went live. But there is definately something to this product and one subset in particutlar. The jumbo patches are a set that is dominating the secondary market right now. With an excellent checklist of players that do not already have such patch cards, and low serial numbering to assure rarity, these have been a monster hit.
These cards are great examples of why this set is getting so much love right now. They are also proof that fantastic, compelling cards that can succeed in the secondary market are possible without a license from Major League Baseball.
