It’s been three years since Razor Collectibles put out their Poker series, which certainly left the hardcore collector wanting more. With it’s cult-like fan base and dedicated players, Razor Poker is now back with a vengeance.  2010 Razor Poker is set to release in a week and included in the set is a hobby and poker first – Stu Ungar autographs and memorabilia.

Widely known as the greatest Poker mind in history, Ungar is viewed along the same lines as historical masterminds like Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollock, and Albert Einstein.  Widely viewed as a private person with a gifted and “different” way of life, Ungar’s possessions, autographs, and poker-used memorabilia are highly sought after on the secondary market.  Now, you have a chance to own a piece of Poker history.

With an extremely limited print run of 299 cases, Razor is able to bring these Stu Ungar pieces to almost everyone who buys into the high-end product.  Each box will contain 5 cards, and each card will either be an autograph or Stu Ungar memorabilia card.  One lucky collector will win the Poker holy grail, a Stu Ungar Autograph, numbered 1/1.

The innovation within this release is something that collectors will appreciate, and the notable names are a good mix of the best in the game.  Making appearances as autographs and memorabilia are greats such as Doyle Brunson, Joe Hachem, Howard Lederer, Johnny Chan, Phil Hellmuth, Greg “Fossilman” Raymer, Daniel Negreanu, and more.  Celebrities make an appearance in the set like Cindy Margolis, along with some notable sports names of the past like Orel Hershiser.

To top off this limited and excited set, 9 lucky collectors will pull a redemption card for entry into a special contest. Each entry will play in an online poker tournament for the highest stakes in the world of poker.  The winner will walk away with an entry to the 2011 World Series of Poker, which is a once in a lifetime experience.

MCDAA Cards – what once was and what could be

MCDAA Logo
Last week, the annual McDonald’s All-American game was played.  This game has showcased the best talent that high-school basketball has to offer for several decades. Michael Jordan, Vince Carter, Paul Pierce, Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, Greg Oden, the list truly does go on and on.

While watching this game I was reminded of three things:
1. The NBA All-Star game has nothing on this game when it comes to sloppiness and errant passes.
2. These players are the closest to professionals of any high-school athletes. The AFLAC game and Army All-American game showcase baseball and football players that are likely 4 years away, at a minimum, from their pro debut. The McDonald’s game showcases guys who could be in the NBA draft just one year from now (previously a few months from now – Lebron etc.).
3. The cards, they are no more - I miss them. Lets expound on that a bit.

2010 Razor US Army All American Bowl Update.

Previously we had announced that the Razor Entertainment group, the only trading card licensee of the US Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio Texas, has been looking to include alumni autographs in thier 2010 offering.  Potential targets for these cards were Jimmy Clausen, C.J. Spiller, and Jordan Shipley.  Today I was sent some scans of the mock ups of what their US Army card would look like.

Jordan Shipley US Army

These cards will undoubtedly be sticker autographs, all the information we have points to that.  Here is a picture of Jordan Shipley doing his signing on a sheet of stickers.

Their presence in this product makes me a bit more excited about this product, and it makes me wonder who else they have in store.  Perhaps they can sign other big name alumni.
