The Topps exclusive has led them to branch out a bit and experiment with new releases. In the world of baseball cards Gypsy Queen is the first new one of the year. It’s patterned after the 1887 cards made by Goodwin and Company in New York, and one of several brands of tobacco they used baseball cards to advertise.
The new release is similar to Allen and Ginter releases of previous years, with less gimmicks. You won’t find The Abominable Snowman, the Tooth Fairy, or Jack’s magic beans here. You will find mocked up carnival gems if oddness is your thing. The baseball content in this product is surprisingly strong, with lots of Koufax and Aaron. Aside from big hits the product is driven by additional content added by the printing plates, numbered relics, and some beautiful stamp cards.
Our box had plenty of content, including the previously pictured jersey autograph card of Josh Johnson. Other hits were a Tommy Hunter mini printing plate and an on card autograph of Marlon Byrd. To win some Gypsy Queen of your own, comment on this article as one random winner will be selected.
