FCB Weekly Hot List June 15th 2012 Edition

Do you ever find yourself in a conversation with someone where they tell you a fact that kind of rocks your world?  90+% of the paper money in the U.S. has traces of cocaine on it, millions of people use a prescription drug of some sort and so on and so forth.

Now it’s not quite that far out there but a stunningly low amount of people have rotator cuff, tommy john and other throwing related surgeries.  Way, way less than you think.  (Wait Phil, I didn’t think that there were that many people that needed that anyway…).  Well, given the amount of stones thrown in anything related to the professional sports industry today, I would have to imagine there would be lines out the doors of clinics.

It’s a theme that hit home this week.  First, in spite of the hate the Miami Heat made the NBA Finals.  You just read that sentence and nodded (probably in your head, I’m guessing you aren’t sitting at your desk doing a bobble head routine here).  But here’s the thing about you nodding, you are acknowledging that hate is almost synonymous with the Miami Heat and lets get even more specific, Lebron James in particular.  The next question I have to ask you is why?

Well, Phil, “The Decision,” I mean the guys so full of hot air and ego it’s really hard to deal with.  And the “not 5, not 6, not 7″ quote that was said when he and Chris Bosh descended upon Miami.  Well, Lebron’s said numerous times that he regrets “The Decision”, as he ought to.  And you are telling me that “not 5, not 6, not 7″ you’ve never heard another professional athlete act overly confident in front of thousands who worship them?  And you wouldn’t be inclined to do the same?  naaawwww.  Lebron’s actually got a pretty compelling life story and frankly is one of the most gifted athletes ever and yet, hate.  I honestly believe that many would like him more if he had become an all out drug addict and homeless at some point in time and then come back to be a good basketball player.

Now it is a fact that hate, nuisance, annoyance, sarcasm, synonym, synonym and synonym are all cottage industries in the U.S. media today.  Famous conservative columnist George Will when being advised by famous conservative columnist William Buckley on how to come up with content for the bi-weekly articles he was signing up to write “just find two things that annoy you each week, it shouldn’t be hard.”  We all know, it’s not.  In the words of the famous Marshall Mathers “I guess words are a motherf***** they can be great, or they can degrade, or even worse, they can teach hate.”  Indeed Marshall.

We’ve now approached the point where you are asking yourself “has Phil abandoned the Hot List just to stand on a soap box” or more likely “sweet mother, where is this going?”  But that’s the beauty of it, instead of writing each week about how annoyed I am with a certain athlete’s behavior, a certain call made by an official or how much I dislike something done in the card industry, I instead get to write about all the awesome reasons that card values rose.  Perfect games, great debuts, incredible seasons and so on and so forth and to me, that’s refreshing.  So with that, lets get to it.

Side note:  If you were paying attention last week you might be thinking “weren’t there stones thrown regarding inclusion of certain players in the Hot List?”  Why yes, there were indeed and for the record (and likely not the last time), about percentage increases here.

1. Tyler Moore 2011 Bowman Chrome Refractors

Moore

Comments: Look it is a young Washington Nationals star in the top spot!  But wait, it’s not Bryce, nor Stephen, heck it isn’t even Gio.  Tyler provided the pop (2 HRs) while Stephen provided the pitching.  There’s a lot to be excited about with the Nationals this season and the fact that I named off three Nationals who had already made the Hot List this season is indicative of what many D.C. area folks hope is a changing of the tides in regards to baseball.  In Stephen and Bryce they already have 2 of the best young players in baseball and with guys like Tyler, I’m sure they are feeling like the more the “Mary”er. Tyler’s cards last week sold for a buck and those same Purple Refractors that sold for a buck last week sold for $10 this week.

2. Trevor Plouffe 2004 SP Prospects Autos

Plouffe

Comments: I often have the chance, when placing cards on the Hot List to pick from a host of different brands.  For instance Trevor’s 2004 rookie autos include SP Prospects, Elite and Bowman Sterling.  However, who knows how many more times we’ll have a chance to talk about SP Prospects, so SP Prospects it is.  Trevor has been on fire since May and already has 10 home runs this season and his cards are just starting to catch up.  SP Prospects hit $10 this week after selling for $2 the previous week.

3. Henry Hill 2010 UD Spectrum Autos

Hill

Comments: One of the only consistent negative reasons that some show up on the Hot List is a death.  From a simple economic perspective this means no more auto signing and thus a limited quantity.  Previously guys like Gary Carter and Junior Seau have shown up on the list for this sad reason and this week it is Henry Hill.  He played SS for the Orioles in the ’60s, you know, that guy?  Actually, Henry didn’t play baseball at all but he is the subject of one of the all time iconic movies in my book, “Goodfellas.”  I’m sure it will be on AMC on 24/7 repeat soon enough but a google search can provide you hours of entertaining reading if you are so inclined.  The Mafia code of omerta was one of silence, no rats.  Henry broke that and if there was a code regarding the signing of cards, well he broke that too.  He’s actually feature on a UD Sports Icon card and that card rocketed from $10 to $50 this week with Henry’s passing.

4. Marcell Ozuna 2011 Bowman Chrome Parallels

Ozuna
Comments: Marcell has always had good power, as a 19 year old he hit 22 home runs in 320 at bats.  However, this season with 15 home runs already, on pace to set new career highs and in spite of the fact that it is is his 4th minor league season Marcell is still just 21 and on a tear.  Blue Refractors rose from $2 buck to $10 this week.

5. Joe Kelly 2010 Bowman Platinum Autos

Kelly

Comments: Lance Lynn has made this list quite a few times and so have other Cardinals pitchers that have emerged from the nameless ranks of many to pitch really well.  Joe Kelly is the latest one of those names to fare very well in his big league debut and the Cardinals just have a knack for putting the right pieces in the right places when it comes to pitching (minor allusion to Good to Great).  There’s another side effect that occurs as a result of this – it’s that guys who previously sold for very little (Mom:  hey Tommy, what did you get out of your Bowman Platinum pack?  Tommy: awww, all I got was this crummy Joe Kelly autograph and a refractor numbered to a number that’s too big for me to read) now sell for a little more.

6. Matt Cain 2002 Bowman Chrome

Cain

Comments: Yeah, it took this long to get to the guy who threw a perfect game.  Lincecum and Cain and pray for rain?  Well maybe not so much this year.  Matt Cain has always had “stuff” what he hasn’t had is run support or just general good luck which has resulted in no seasons with over 14 wins and array of other statistics that would surprise you for a pitcher of his caliber (3.28 career ERA).  Apparently, like a runner who runs a fairly conservative race only to finish with a dizzying final kick, Matt wanted to use up some of his good fortune all at once with two amazing catches that benefited his perfect game which he threw Wednesday night.  2002 Chrome is undoubtedly an iconic set at this point and it’s not because of all the Jeremy Hermida rookies I had stashed, it’s because cards like Matt Cains 9.5s go from $45 to $125 with such news and base chromes over $125 is news indeed.

7. R.A. Dickey 1997 Bowman Chrome Rookies

Dickey

Comments: R.A., Robert Allen in case you were wondering holds a couple interesting big league records – most wild pitches in an inning (4, tied with Walter Johnson) and most home runs given up in a game (6, tied with Tim Wakefield).  Just as surprising, R.A. is tied for the national league lead in wins this year with 10 already and at 37 seems to finally be coming into his own.  Although his rookie cards were produced way back in 1997 with that first Bowman Chrome release – they are moving now, just like Jose Cruz Jr. (oh wait, he’s on BBTN).  R.A.’s Chromes are up to an amazing $10 from $5 last week.

8. Chris Sale 2010 Bowman Chrome Draft Autos

Sale

Comments: If you opened 2010 Bowman Chrome Draft you know that one of the bigger pulls was Chris Sale, that bubble deflated rather quickly as there was much speculation around whether he was a reliever or not.  However, Chris is putting all that talk quickly to rest with his 2.05 ERA this far into the season.  It’ s not just the ERA, or 8 wins either, opponents are batting .188 against him with a WHIP of .85, pretty incredible on both fronts.  This means Chris’ cards are no longer on…oh yes, I did.  Sale.

9. Jonathan Quick SP Authentic RC /999

Quick

Comments: Remember who was on this list last year?  Tim Thomas.  No, not the basketball player from Villanova, the Stanley Cup winning goalie.  Well, let me just say that if you could predict the Stanley Cup winner you would be wise to snap up cards of their goalie like it was going out of style.  Jonathan Quick’s SP Authentic cards, even the base /999 are absolutely on fire moving from $110 to $150 this week.

An “Oops We Missed it”:  Carlos Ruiz 2005 Rookies: With all of the Phillies fans on the board I would have expected that someone would have mentioned the fact that Carlos Ruiz is hitting .361 and has 2005 Elite Autos that sell for near $30 but nay…

FCB Weekly Hot List May 4th 2012 Edition

The calendar just turned over to May, right?  For May it sure feels like this week’s sports news cycle has been dominated by the NFL.  As I was writing this list last week, the first round of the NFL draft had just concluded and we were about to embark on rounds 2-7.  The draft always causes some movement in early season NFL rookie cards.  Thanks to Leaf, there is a better option available earlier in the year than usual, making it even more interesting.  I mean, what collector isn’t enthused by the Jags trade up to get Justin Blackmon – Jaguars cards sell for crazy money?  right?  right?  please?  Sigh.  On the flip side I had a guy not pay for Nick Perry Leaf Metal Prismatic Auto /99 a couple weeks ago, he won it then for $4.25.  This card was relisted and sold last Sunday for just under $18 and because Nick was drafted by the Packers, the winner is me.  Oh and the David Decastro auto that didn’t get paid for, instead of $2.99, I got $12.75 – yeah, you know what it is, black and yellow, black and yellow, black and yellow, black and yellow.

Unfortunately the draft was about the end of the positive NFL news for the week.  Sitting in a meeting at work Wednesday I saw the alert pop up on my iPhone that Oceanside police were investigating a shooting at Junior Seau’s house, likely a suicide.  I’ll leave the pondering about the effects of playing in the NFL on the brain to others, the bottom line is that Junior was several things – a San Diego icon, a Hall of Fame caliber linebacker and from all accounts a very decent human being.  The interview with his mom on TV was positively gut wrenching and sigh.

Lastly, suspensions were handed out for Jonathan Vilma among other players in “BountyGate” or “Mutiny on the Bounty” or “the Bounties were plentiful” or whatever else you’d like to call it.  Vilma’s out for the year, so is Sean Payton and there’s been a bounty (oh yes, I just did) of other penalties inflicted on the Saints.  A couple questions to ponder regarding this incident and any others of the sport.  Do you think the Saints really wanted to hurt people (insanely hard hits etc.) any more than another team?  So is it that much worse that there was some structure to it?  At what point in time should we stop calling it football and start issuing tutus instead of pants?  Is Roger Goodell in the news and involved in the game far too often as the commissioner?  Oh, I’m sure you can tell which way I lean on this sort of thing but I think at least a couple of those questions are worth considering none the less.

Any other week in May, the most impactful news item would have been the draft and where players went but whenever a player dies, especially one of notoriety like Junior, their autos skyrocket and with that, we begin.

1. Junior Seau Autographs

Seau

Comments: Well, to make the Hot List, your cards have to go up, no qualifiers on why.  Most of the reasons that guys make this list are for things like Perfect Games (Humber), breakout performances, huge weeks and far too often death.  It’s an unfortunate reality and from a purely economic perspective death means no more autos therefore causing a rush to market.  The card pictured above had buy it nows hit this week for $175 after selling last week for literally 1/10th of that.

2. A.J. Jenkins 2012 Leaf Metal Autos

Comments: Because I am a homer I had bought up some A.J. Jenkins Leaf Metal Purple Prismatic Autos and had them sitting on eBay, fishing.  Truth of the matter was I bought too early and up until Thursday night I thought I overpaid, all of a sudden the iPhone starts buzzing with offers.  That’s strange, although I loved A.J. I was sure he would be a mid-round pick until the 49ers went all “Momma Incredible” on him and snagged him at the end of the first round.  This clearly excited Niners collectors and other football fans as his Metal autos went from $2 to $8 quickly.

3. Chris Davis 2007 Elite Autos

Davis Elite

Comments: Honestly, if you haven’t gotten in on an All In Cards group break that is hosted over in the box break forums, you are really missing out.  Andrew does a fantastic job, gets you good prices and your cards quick and meanwhile you get to listen to Phish softly in the background.  But your trivia question today is “do you know what Andrew’s personal favorite product to break was?”  2007 Elite is the answer I’ve heard him give before but he wasn’t pulling these Chris Davis autographs out of the product, they were redemptions and insanely hot at one point while Chris was in the Rangers minor league system.  Since then, Chris has bounced between the minors and majors and been traded to the Orioles.  However, it appears that this year he may just stick in the bigs and thus far is batting .316 with 5 HRs and 13 RBIs.  His Elite Autos went from $10 to $30 this week and it appears that 2007 Elite will be the power in the Orioles lineup this year with Chris and Matt Wieters both representing.

4. Bryan LaHair 2007 Bowman Sterling Autos

Comments: Speaking of big first basemen who have bounced around between the minors and majors, here’s another one for you.  Bryan LaHair – Bryan brings two things to mind for me.  First, as a guy who busted 4 cases of 2007 Bowman Sterling, I hated him.  He was the $.99 auto that plagued you (I actually checked, I sold a lot of 5 for $16.49 and a lot of 70 2008 Bowman Draft Rookies for $1.51).  Secondly, the guy must have gotten teased mercilessly (prior to being 6’5″ 240) with a last name like “Hey Bryan, I have a LaHair in my soup, did you make this?”  Anyway, Cubs fans are happy to have him because speaking of plagues – that’s what Carlos Pena felt like last season.  Bryan has had a stellar start to the season and the Sterling Autos I once hated that sold for $10 last week are now selling for $25 this week.

5. Brandon Weeden 2012 Leaf Metal Autos

Weeden Metal Auto

Comments: Only in the NFL Draft season will you hear so much consternation about a guy being 28, I mean, if you just listened without knowing his age you would think that he was 70+ pushing 90.  This is not the case and apparently Cleveland didn’t care.  That said, if you had Seneca Wallace, Colt McCoy, Brady Quinny the Pooh and visions of Derek Anderson dancing in your head, you may not care either.  After Ryan Tannehill was selected 8th, Cleveland grabbed Brandon Weeden in the first round too and if you haven’t noticed, first round QBs are kind of a big deal.  Brandon’s Prismatic Autos /99 doubled from $15 to $30 and in some cases a bit more.

6. Johnny Cueto 2008 Topps Chrome Autos

Cueto

Comments: Johnny’s off to a very hot start this season, not only is he 3-0 but he has a 1.39 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP, these are not cheap wins.  Johnny has had a pretty solid couple of years over the past 2 years but he is yet to put together any real eye popping stats – maybe this year is the year.  His 2008 Topps Chrome Autos moved from $5 to $13 this week.

7. Nick Perry 2012 Leaf Metal Draft Prismatic Autos

Perry Metal

Comments: As mentioned in the opening, Nick was drafted by the Green Bay Packers who have had great success with their previous USC linebacker pick (Clay anyone?) and decided to take a chance on another one.  The story is pretty simple from a Hot List perspective, had Nick been picked by the Carolina Panthers he wouldn’t be here (Kuechly isn’t) but the Packers are a huge draw both from the fan perspective and from the collectors perspective so whoever their first rounder was, was likely going to see a spike in prices and Nick’s Prismatic Autos increased about 80% week to week.

8. Edwin Encarnacion 2003 Bowman Chrome Draft Parallels

Encarnacio

Comments: Edwin has had a very respectable big league career to date.  Hit over 20 HRs several times, .262 career average, not bad at all.  Spectacular, no.  Respectable big league regular, you bet.  However, thus far in 2012 Edwin has been a lot more than a respectable regular with 9 HRs and 24 RBIs already for the Blue Jays – and you thought Jose Bautista was the big bopper (he’s in the Pujols category right now).  Edwins 2001 Topps Traded and 2003 Bowman Chrome Draft parallels went from selling for nothing to having low BINs hit this week.

9. Tyler Austin 2010 Elite Autos

Comments: Tyler is simply dominating the SAL this year, 21 XBH’s an OPS of over 1.2, it is just getting kind of silly.  Is it me or do the Yankees like catching prospects (or former catching prospects) – Montero, Sanchez, Austin Romine !!??!! and now Tyler Austin.  Austin’s autographs were available for pennies this offseason and now sell for a whole lot more than that, in fact, they were a 20 dollar bill last week and now you’ll need to stack an Alexander Hamilton on top of that Andrew Jackson to acquire an autograph of Tyler Austin.

10. Stephen Strasburg 2010 Bowman Chrome Autos

Strasburg BC Auto

Comments: Stephen Strasburg <3 Tommy John, or James Andrews…whatever the case, Strasburg is back and seems to be feeling as good as ever.  What’s he done thus far?  Oh, just lead the NL in ERA, lose no games and have a WHIP of under .90 – are you thinking that’s crazy?  Well, you are right it is and somehow already extremely high priced cards trend higher which was the case this week with Stephen’s 2010 Bowman Chrome Autos which went from $185 to $225.

Lightning Round

11. Jered Weaver 2005 Bowman Chrome Draft Autos

Weaver

Comments: That’s how much was moving this week, a no hitter doesn’t even land you in the top 10.  Plus Jered’s autos were already selling for $50 before the no hitter that pushed them to $70.

12. Bryce Harper 2011 Bowman Chrome Refractor Autos

Harper Ref Auto

Comments: Oh yeah, this guy made his debut this week and he’s already hitting in the bigs.  Refractor Autos went to $400 up from $300 – who made the post saying he was going to be demoted again?

13. Jonathan Quick 2007-08 UD Ultimate

Quick

Comments: Hurry!  Grab some Jonathan!  Go fast!  Quick, that’s  his last name and he’s playing a huge role as goalie in the Kings playoff victories thus far, Ultimate Autos are up about 25% to $105.

FCB Weekly Hot List – April 20th 2012 Edition

I have been writing this Hot List for over two years now, the Hot List has remained relatively consistent over that time period from a content perspective, with the main addition being more flavor in the form of commentary.  Somewhere along the way I started writing these introductions – to be honest I am not really sure why I started writing them.  Perhaps it was because I was inspired by writers like Matthew Berry of ESPN (Booyah Network) who have long, winding, introductions that eventually hone into a fine point, that then leads them them into the meat of their article.  Perhaps it was because I wanted to challenge myself to come up with a little more original content, or perhaps I just needed to create a space to house everything I wanted to say that didn’t fit within the confines of the typical Hot List.

I will let you determine the reasons but none the less, you still get to deal with the output.  Typically this commentary consists of hobby related trends reflected in the Hot List each week but I would be remiss not give some digital ink to the forum transition that happened this week.  Change is a scary word for most, I’ve noticed two things about it, first – people really dislike it and second – people adjust to it easier than they thought and in the end the dislike dissipates faster than they would have initially anticipated.  It does strike me as strange that many political campaigns on both sides of the aisle revolve around change because when you boil that down to what it really means for the average Joe, they don’t like it.  Give me my healthcare, tax breaks, stay out of my life and so on and so on and if you start to change any of these things the only change I’ll go for is someone new in power to give me more of the same – that’s change!

Regarding the change on these boards, it was met with a significant amount of skepticism and reasonably so, given the boards founding was based off another, not so great, change.  However, I really have to hand it to Chris, Brad and others who have done most of the work on the boards – not only have things gotten back to normal in a hurry, there are already a great deal of additional features that the prior board (held together by bubblegum, bandaids and one of Gilmore’s cats running in a wheel) didn’t have.

However, some things don’t change and no matter what forum type we have…the Hot List marches on.

1. Nolan Reimold 2010 Topps Chrome Auto

Photobucket

Comments: In the prospecting world, Reimold is old hat, he has had cards out since 2005 Bowman Chrome Draft and has seen prices move up and down several times over that period.   Prior to the start of this year Reimold had already hit 35 home runs in the Major Leagues in 782 at bats – certainly showing some significant pop.  However, this season has started that much better for Nolan as he is hitting near .350 with 4 HR’s already.  His 2010 Topps Chrome Autos were dirt cheap prior to this week and could be had for roughly $3 and now have popped up to $10.

2. Matt Carpenter 2010 Gold Refractor

Photobucket

Comments: Matt Carpenter is one of those guys who absolutely comes out of nowhere to have a very hot start to the season.  He’s 26, didn’t have much big league experience prior to this year and the first position listed on his baseball reference page is, “pinch hitter.”  Sounds like a guy to expect great returns on right?  This is why they play the game folks…Matt’s had a great start to the season and Gold Refractors like the card above have tripled or more to $50.

3. Sean Couturier 2011-12 UD Young Guns

Photobucket

Comments: Hat tricks are a real big deal in hockey.  Hat tricks while beating the Penguins senseless are an even bigger deal.  Hat tricks while beating the Penguins senseless by a rookie center for the Flyers – the biggest deal of them all.  In a game with a score that looked more like it was from the MLB and not the NHL, this is exactly what Sean pulled off and his 3 goals were very timely.  Sean’s Young Guns cards immediately began to heat up and moved from $17.50 to $50.

4. Telvin Nash 2009 Elite Autograph

Photobucket

Comments: Telvin has 7 home runs in 14 games, even in the launching pad that is the Cal League that gets you noticed awfully quickly.  Telvin has been around for a few years but 7 home runs already represents 50% of his prior career high.  He’s just got one autograph, 2009 Elite and it went from $7 to $20 this week.

5. Tyler Austin 2010 Elite Autograph

Photobucket

Comments:  You would be hard pressed to come up with the name of a hitter who has had a hotter start to the season than Tyler has in the SAL.  In 11 games Tyler is hitting .432, slugging .932, has an OPS of 1.411, has 12 XBH’s and 11 RBIs.  In short, Tyler is absolutely scorching and guys like Tyler and Telvin are a big reason that people love to see Elite Extra Edition come out every year with its enormous autograph checklist – they know, that there are players to be bought for $1 at release that turn into Tyler’s and Telvins.  Tyler was already hot before this week with this autographs selling for $8-$10 but they doubled anyway – moving up to $20.

6. Matt Barnes 2011 Bowman Chrome Draft Autographs

Photobucket

Comments:  Speaking of dominating the SAL – Matt Barnes first 3 starts have been insane and it just hasn’t been the statistics that are eye popping, those watching him are overwhelmed by his “stuff” early in the season.  Matt’s been a well known name in the prospecting world for a while due to his USA releases but the combination of a great start and the fact that he is a member of the Red Sox organization got his cards moving this week.  His 2011 Bowman Draft Refractor Autos moved from $15 to $30.

7. Tyler Thornburg 2010 Elite Autos

Photobucket

Comments:  Tyler has followed up a very solid 2011 season with a great start to 2012 in AA, 3 starts, an ERA under 1.00 and 24 K’s in 18 innings is enough to get anyone noticed.  Like the previous Tyler on this list, his first auto is from 2010 Elite and doubled this week to $10.

8. T.J. Yeldon 2012 Leaf Metal Army Autos

Photobucket

Comments: When T.J. was nominated it was followed up by the phrase “spring games do matter.”  Nearly every matters in sports these days as there is little that isn’t taped, reported on, analyzed and discussed ad nauseum.  However, when a 5 star Bama RB puts up sick numbers in a spring game that’s going to get noticed.  It’s meaningful to this list because he actually already has a card thanks to the Leaf Army Metal subset of 2012 Leaf Metal Draft.  Prior to the Spring game his autographs from that set were selling for about $30 (Base /50 Prismatics that is) and they immediately popped up to $53 with other BINs hit on lower #’d parallels.  His autographs, patch autographs and other cards should be big hits in the upcoming 2012 Leaf Army All American set.

9. Lance Lynn 2010 Bowman Chrome Autograph

Photobucket

Comments:  Lance’s first two starts as a full time starter for the Cardinals have gone extremely well.  Lance made this list last year around the time of his MLB debut and his cards saw a small spike then.  However, prior to this week you could still pick up his Bowman Chrome Autograph for $8, now these garner $14.

10. Stephen Strasburg 2010 Bowman Chrome Auto

Photobucket

Comments:  Stephen has come back and through 3 starts looked like the Cy Young award winner that everyone expects him to be.  Buying cards of a very expensive young player after a surgery like Tommy John is still really risky but it is paying off for many.  Stephen’s 2010 Bowman Chrome Refractor Autos hit $250 yesterday and that’s up significantly from the $150 they were garnering last week.

Lightning Round

11. Matt Kemp 2005 Bowman Chrome Auto BGS 9.5

Photobucket

Comments:  Batting .451 with 7 HRs and 18 RBIs through 13 games.  Collectors realizing he’s perhaps a “generational player.”  BC Auto 9.5s move from $250 to $350.

12. Jed Bradley 2011 Bowman Chrome Draft High-End Autos

Photobucket

Comments:  Jed’s stuff was not big money when pulled from 2011 draft products but his quick start has moved up his low #’d cards like Gold Refractors from $70 to over $100

13. Michelle Wie 2012 Leaf Golf Autos

Photobucket

Comments:  As Leaf Metal dries up many collectors are still in need of rare Michelle Wie autographs.  The blue pictured above sold last week for $125 and was up to $165 this week.

14. Dylan Bundy 2011 Bowman Chrome Draft Auto Refractor

Photobucket

Comments: Dylan is living up to every expectation that the Orioles and others had of him when he was drafted, Refractors moved from $85 to $115 this week.

15. J.D. Martinez 2011 Bowman Chrome Auto

Photobucket
Comments:  J.D. is another guy who had some time in the big leagues last year and is off to a hot start this year.  Last week $18 would get you a Refractor Auto, this week it will only buy you a base auto.
