Recently much has been made about The Topps Company and release date issues. Mass case breaker Brent Williams and many other case breakers were told by Topps to not break before release date in an effort to enforce their policies.
That was late September. Fast forward a half month to October and you will see something funny happening with 2012 Bowman Chrome. There are auctions up for autographs in the product the SATURDAY before release date.
All of these items are listed in Taiwan and it appears to be only one seller so this could indeed be an isolated incident. The results of the break were posted on FCB by one of our international users. That user is also the seller of the items on eBay. This was a box, bought in a hobby shop by a regular Joe collector in Taiwan. That makes me ask if there is a different release date for Asia than we have to abide by in the states. And if so, is that fair?
Bulk case rippers like Brent depend on getting their cards to market as close to release date as possible to make what they do viable. This is probably an isolated case of one dealer being careless with some product, but the timing of this incident is pretty bad. It was less than a month ago that Brent was told to not display product early.

Interesting you would speculate when you can directly ask me, the original member who made the post. I shared the information on the forum because I like how it was ran and learned plenty from the intelligence of others in the past, and thought I’d also chip in when I have something to share. That’s why I also made another post about the ratio and other info about the product. If I was just trying to increase traffic on my listings I’d post in every card forum I could find, not just FCB. It’s very disappointing that such “News” was then posted on the FCB blog in this manner.
I am sorry you were disappointed.
Unfortunately when the source is a collector we generally do not do much inquiring. The facts were clear in this case that product was released early, and we printed that news. Whatever happens after that happens.
I am not saying that what you posted that we had a early date was incorrect. I’m just saying this because you choose to post with a lot of speculation and question marks when just a simple message will change this and the content of this post will be much richer and solid in proving your point. Philip did so much research every week before he post the hot list so we could have a good read. I was just hoping that all posts on the official blog would be able to provide collectors with the most it was able to offer that’s all.
Sometimes I try and get the topps company to fix things. They read this site daily, and pointing out discrepancies in the supply chain has fixed things in the past. The open ended speculation was very much intentional.
And about the hot list, think of me as a substitute teacher. Phil will be back. In the mean time, I would appreciate not getting spit balls shot at me.
